CSS Example: Borders

Outstanding Borders

This is an example of the use of borders to set off a paragraph from the rest of the text on a page. A combination of rules had to be used to suggest similar rendering in two popular browsers.

 P.standout {border-left-style: solid;border-right-style: solid;border-left-width: thin;border-right-width: thin;border-color: #cc3333;padding-left: .7em;padding-right: .5em;margin-left: 12%;margin-right: 12%; }

You could, of course, add a backround to make the separation even more clear.

 .box { background: url(/images/clouds.gif); … }
